Welcome to the United Voice of English Teachers (U-VET). U-VET has three foundation spirits: (1) to elevate the quality of English education; (2) to address the 'game' in the world of English education; and (3) to address racism in the world of English education. We will not carry flags and march on the streets, but pursue our goals in intelligent ways.

Eye Contact 1
When I returned to Japan from the United States, I wondered why people would avoid eye contact. I mean when you happen to see someone who is walking on the street, you will give an eye contact to show that you see the person. Now that I have lived in my country for a long time, I find myself avoiding eye contact. I mean if someone happens to see the way you are walking and you happen to see the way the person is walking, there may be a brief moment of eye contact between the two persons. When this happens, you normally look other ways. (I man I do.) Eye contact make you nervous - even it is for a split second. I am being re-Japanized.
